Out of State-

As a resident in Oklahoma- I am always looking for new places to ride and different adventures to seek- I am blessed to live in the central-ish part of the state where we have many different trail systems around that are pretty local within the hour. I love riding at all of these places, even though I have a few I have never been to here in Oklahoma, they for sure are still on my list of "just because" rather I camp there or not depending the drive. Because of course I am not going to drive 3 hours one way just for a day ride... but I do have planned to one day manage to ride all of the places in Oklahoma.
Though my goal is that, I still want to travel farther and go out of state for other places. The farthest I have personally been with the horses is Devil's Den Arkansas. It was a nice pretty ride. The roads getting down there are kind of tricky but if you take the right exit, you can get down there by avoiding the winding narrow roads. The campground there was very packed tight between spots and hard to back into due to so many trees. But we managed it somehow. Or well my dad did. I don't think I was old enough to drive when we went to Devil's Den.... and I am 27 years old now lol...so it has been a while for sure.
I want to explore other options especially in Arkansas. The Ozarks are my favorite place to ride that is local and somewhat close to home. I want to ride at the following, just so I can say that I did it. Falling Waters, Idle Nook, Cowboy Up, Caney Mountain, and Boston Mountain. I am sure there are many other places in Arkansas that aren't your "rent a horse" type of trail riding.
It is hard finding places that you know aren't a "rent a horse" or a "dude ranch" type of station as well. When you google "horse camp" it literally pulls up both- but that is why I have created this blog is for that reasoning. I am also one who will take my car, take a road trip down to said campgrounds prior to taking my trailer because I want to be prepared to make sure my rig and everything fits my needs for the trip. I still don't have a LQ trailer like many do, so having a place with a toilet and shower is a must for me.
I plan to take a random weekend road trip to Arkansas here soon (probably within the next couple of weeks) to go see these places and seek out which once I would like, the route to get down there etc. so I can review them personally and post it all here for everyone to see. I am hoping that it helps everyone. I try to ask on Facebook and other social media groups, but people either give you the bare minimum in an answer, don't even read the post before they comment, or suggest something I have already done and said that i did.... or one person will say one thing and another say the opposite... So it is just one of those things.... that if I do my own personal in sight seeing of the grounds, take pictures of it etc., I feel like it helps not only me but a lot of other people out as well.
From the brief time I was in Idle Nook's campgrounds- I did not see any horse trailers so I am not sure if I was in the right spot or not. I found what they call "the Nook" but I did not see anyone even there to ask for assistance, so we just circled around and drove out of the campground. That is as far as I went when I was scouting out Oklahoma campgrounds 2 years ago.
Once I get more information about the campgrounds in Arkansas, I will make up a different tab for Arkansas trail systems for people to look at.
I want to thank everyone who has seen my website and I hope that it continues to help everyone out as I try to provide all the information that I can!
Happy Trails!
