Scatter manure in the tree line

ANNOUNCEMENT!!
2/28/24

REMINDER**

By default for Deer Season Hugo Lake shuts down the horse trails October 1st- January 1st.

Within the last year, I have noticed them shutting down for other hunts...

TRIPLE CHECK with the admin/ambassador to double check the park is open before you haul/book to camp!!

Camp opens up according to Kendra Staggs March 1st but there will be NO ELECTRICITY due to a project they are working on with replacing it.

It is a large expensive project- they had hopes of having it done by the spring but so far it has not been completed.

  • Location: "Hugo Lake Kiamichi Park"

    • Park at Raccoon rd

  • Almost 40 miles of trails

    • Shade covered trails

    • Some say it is barefoot friendly- that if your horses have good hard feet they would be fine. Some prefer riding shod or with boots.

    • I personally do not have any experience for this yet-

    • The Main trail is ORANGE FLAGS.

      • When leaving camp, markers are on the right, and when returning they are on the left.

      • There are several side trails, colors are BLUE, RED, WHITE, YELLOW AND LIME GREEN.

      • You will have to come back to ORANGE to get back to camp.

  • Camping with hook-up's

    • Make reservations at recreation.gov

      • "R" loop, type in Kiamichi Park in the search bar on recreation.gov

  • Park Closes Oct 1 and opens back up in Jan 1st

  • The map shows that ORANGE does NOT go directly to Bobcat rd- you will have to take a single track marked in ORANGE around the swamp.

    • This is remote trail called "Jade's Cut Thru" doesnt show much wear but you will enjoy the creek's and forest it takes you through.

  • The Crop requests that you do NOT ride on the paved roads unless there is an emergenccy. You can cross roads, but can be subjected to a citation if off the marked trails.

  • There is a Horse Beach and Swim Area located by site 5 at Raccoon Rd.

  • Scatter your manure in the woods where it cannot be seen.

  • There are pens there for you to use

    • Leave your pens cleaner than you found them

  • You are welcome to bring your own pens

    • both electrical and portable are welcome
