Hey Ya'll and Welcome!

I am 28 years old and originate out of the Maud, Seminole, Shawnee area of Oklahoma. I grew up with horses since I was 6 years old. My family and I used to trail ride in Clayton Oklahoma with a horse camp called Indian Mounds. I remember riding for hours and loving every minute of it. We also rode Sportsman lake in Seminole along with Robber's Cave in Wilburton Oklahoma. Horses were my favorite thing in the world and they still are today. Probably always will be... because let's face it, its not a phase!

Trail riding and barrel racing with the occasional playday is all we did with horses. As I got older and college and work took over my life, I did not get to barrel race much as I worked... adulting sucks!

Fast forward about 6-8 years from graduating high school and the dry spell from our usual big trail ride camp trips, our group reunited at Robber's Cave fall of 2020 and that is when I decided to start looking for new places to ride. I love Robber's Cave but I am always up for an adventure plus we had camped there so many times already, we already knew what to expect.

As I did some research and asked on several trail riding groups on social media about their favorite places to ride and what other places were out there, very few of my questions were answered and I was referred back to several times to check out a website called OETRA.com.

In doing as such, I still did not seem to have a lot of my questions answered as the information on the website was non consistent and some was outdated.

Questions I always have for each place are: Do I need shoes? Is it big rig friendly? Is there camping? Is there a bath house  if there is camping or is it primitive or both? How many miles does the trail system have? Does it have a map? Does this place have pens if it has camping? Do you have to pay for the pens? Can you put up a picket line or bring your own pens? What do I do with the horse Manure? Are campsites first come first serve? Reservations? Both? Do they close for Hunting season? Do they shut the water off during winter?

There are so many questions and everyday I come across more, which thus adds to the information of each place.

It was no offense to the members of the program nor the people who worked on the website, but I for sure was not the only person who had a lot of questions about other places to ride. So I took it into my own hands into making new maps for starters, then it became more where I was creating a list of places with a bit of information then had the idea of a book but decided to go with a website instead.

I picked the website version because I figured this would be the best way to keep things updated and so when a new place had been discovered, or that I myself had actually visited so I could review, I could update this blog instead.

 camping small and sufficiently.
