Hey ya'll! I hope everyone is taking precautions during this winter weather we are having blown in this thursday. It is a COLD one for sure. I have 2 of the 3 horses I have blanketed. I unfortunately do not have adequate shelter for them at the moment so even the 2 with winter coats, I put a winter, waterproof/windproof sheet on to help aid in keeping them warm. Plus of course lots of hay and upped their "grain" some too (I just feed alfalfa pellets)
With the weather in topic, next weekend is going to be a wonderful 60 degrees and wow what a drastic change and warm up. I am looking forward to it. I myself prefer the cooler temps over the summer heat, but I do not like the freezing weather like this. I like it 60-70's sunny with a slight breeze for the high and 45-50's for a low. Perfect for riding and also getting to enjoy a nice fire. If only we could control the actual weather as we do the thermostats in our house right?! LOL
Anyway, next weekend I plan to ride at Prague Lake. I am not sure which day however. I have that monday off from work due to the holiday, New Year's Eve is supposed to be the best day since New Year's Day is calling for rain chances at the moment. But we have a camp trip coming up in March at Heaven's Gate and I've gotta get the ponies in shape for mountain rides. With Mia being off majority of the summer due to her foot injury, then a busy fall and so far a busy winter to follow, along with weather delays, it has been a struggle to get horses rode. I do plan to hit it hard, when the weather complies, starting New Year's weekend.
So far for the year, which doesn't look like I will complete much more, I have rode what i thought was 500 miles this year but that was apparently just my total for the whole time I have been using equilab tracking system- however, some of my rides i know i tracked, like ones at robbers cave for example, are missing from that quota so Im sure I also have some missing from my total from this year as well unfortunately. However my total is stating that I have ridden about 203 miles this year. Which given the circumstances of not riding for 3 almost 4 months this year, I'd say that is pretty dang good!!
I am hoping for no injuries that put my horses out for months this year and the goal to actually hit 500+ miles for the year. I am planning a march trip already like i said, then we will have a fall trip for my "big trips". More than likely will have a few random weekend trips as well.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to ya'll
