Happy Tuesday yall! This last weekend 2/16-2/19 I had a fun girls trip/camp weekend at Prague Lake. It was a cold one the first 2 days but we made the best of it! Friday I arrived around 1:30-1:45pm and set up camp and then my Aunt Gail got there and got her rig set up and me and her hit the trails for a quick ride around the lake before the sun set. My friend Cade arrived shortly after we had gotten back to camp and just in time for some supper. Aunt Gail cooked us some yummy chicken in the instapot and we made a salad out of it.
Saturday we woke up to the coldest weather of the weekend and was the coldest weather that I myself have ever camped in. 25 for the low with a wind chill of 15 feel like. The high was only to get up to 39 but that wind is killer! We did not let that stop us though and we rode another lap around the lake. Thank goodness for the trail on the bottom side of the dam though, because that wind coming off of the water would for sure of been BRUTAL!!
Sunday, by far the best day we had this weekend, turned out to really be the best day!! It was a BEAUTIFUL day and we had some fantastic riding weather as well. No wind, the temp with the sun out made it for a nice enjoyable 50 degrees and we rode about 11.7 miles that day as well and rode more loops around the lake. My Aunt Gail had been in conversation with my step mom to plan a surprise birthday party for me at camp- so when we had gotten back- I didn't think much of it but my dad was at camp and then later my husband showed up and then papa showed up and my sister showed up. My sister really was part of the one who blew the surprise but my husband did on accident because I was asking him why he was there because it was supposed to be a "girls weekend" lol and he said 'oh well i was told to bring burgers and show up" LOL and then everyone was like "surprise!" haha but it really was a nice surprise to have everyone show up. We had burgers and hot dogs and sat around the fire and conversated and then my step mom had made a cookie cake as well so it was all in all a great weekend!
Monday, because my husband had the day off, Cade had to go back to work and Aunt Gail had to head back to Texas, I packed up camp and headed home pretty early because me and my husband had plans to go to Sportsman's Lake to go ride and have him try out his scoot boots he bought for his new horse. It made for the perfect day to also add to the map on Gaia GPS that I have been creating.
Sportsmans Lake has gotten 3 co-ambassadors and they have been putting in the work! New signs have gone up to mark some older trails that I don't think people knew existed. Devil's Dare, Rocky Road and Outlaw and Outlaw Pass. I didn't know myself that Devil's Dare was a trail, It is on the upside after crossing tiger creek and then Outlaw Pass I didn't know was a thing either because it always looked grown up and I didnt ever see it on the map, neither for Devils Dare. While I am not one of the co-ambassadors, I am doing the mapping for Gaia. The only trails I lack to map now, are Outlaw pass, the little stretch from 2 to little muddy, the junction of cliff trail and 1a, and the trails across South Bee Creek, (SBC).
The trails that are across SBC will need new markers, trimming and mapped- I know that the last time I was out there and rode it, (veterans day weekend 23'), the ambassadors had been out to trim the creek so you could get to the actual trail- before you couldn't even find it and when I had tried crossing it a couple years back it bogged us down to their knees when crossing. I did not have enough daylight to get the trails rode/marked this last go-round but I am going back out this coming sunday- 2/25/24- to get that done and then the map will be complete!! However for the most part- even without the Gaia gps and using the old paper map or my pdf map, it is still manageable with knowing your directions.
The link that is on Sportsman's page here on my website will take you straight to it and if you have downloaded it prior when I first was making it, no need to click any link because it will all be there automatically when you open up the Gaia app.
Gaia has been being weird however and removing other trails I have saved like Idle Nook and then my husband has access to the map for sportsman's and his isn't showing up even though it states that he has access to it on my side as the creator. I have a separate account as if i was just a user of the map and on my creator account it showed I had access as well but wouldnt pull up on the app either for that other account- but I can log in on the browser on my phone rather it be google chrome or safari and use it just fine and I also have access to it on a desktop version too. The apps on my phone and his are updated too so I think it is just a bug that it making it happen that way but i sent a request to Gaia about it so I am hoping that they get the issues resolved soon.
Anyway- That was the adventure for the weekend and our next trip is back out at Heaven's Gate March 27-31 2024! And that one I for sure cannot wait for!!
Happy Trails!
