Back on the Mend...almost

While I made this website to be personal review posts on trail systems I visit, I unfortunately have not been able to go trail riding much. Long story short, lost my truck, course even if I had one right now, diesel is so expensive, I still would be riding at home majority of the time LOL.

However last Tuesday, May 17th, 2022, my lovely mare, Mia, decided to hurt herself by ripping off a heel bulb on her front right foot. Luckily but unfortunately at the same time, I have had my fair share of knowledge in how to take care of this incident. From our other mare that did the same thing 3 years ago and previous occupation as a vet tech, it for sure saved me a vet bill. I ended up getting some meds from the vet, Uniprim and Bute for pain and an antibiotic followed by the probios to keep the probiotics in her system as well. A little bit of xylazine after a week of wrapping/leaving it unwrapped and doctoring with Underwood's horse medicine, I drugged her a bit and decided to cut the little "flap" off of what was left of the bulb. Threw some wonder dust on it and compress wrapped it for the day and good to go. Luckily enough she also is moving pretty decently all considering and it also did not hit the digital flexor tendon either, just took off some of the digital cushion. Lets just say, at our new house that we are moving into this week, the little bit of barbed wire fencing that is there, will be replaced with horse wire (basically barbed wire without the barbs, but not hot wire)

The house buying process has been a headache in itself... but I am just trying to stay grateful for the fact that we are getting to move to a great sized acreage, house and all under $200k, because that alone... is a HUGE BLESSING.

Once we get moved in, we will be getting back into a truck and be able to go camping again. I am set to go camping in November, in hopes to return to Heaven's Gate, but if her campsite is full, we will probably adventure to Horse Heaven that is just down the road.

I am very excited to start getting to go more and give more personal reviews on different places! I hope everyone is getting to get those miles in this year!
